B i o g r a p h y

   

Murat Selcuk is a Turkish composer based in Los Angeles. His passion for music started at an early age with Depeche Mode covers on a 16 track Roland synthesizer out of his bedroom. Soon he attended Istanbul University State Conservatory in clarinet performance major.

 

After his performing career, in 2011 he shifted gears and traveled to France, to attend the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régionale d’Annecy in composition major, where he collaborated with documentary directors from Cinédoc Paris Films and on animation projects from ArtFx Studios, École Pivaut and Gobelins L’école De L’image.

 

In 2013, he attended University of Southern California’s highly-competitive film scoring program in Los Angeles. There he worked closely with Christopher Young ( Hellraiser, Drag Me To Hell, Spider Man3), Garry Schyman (BioShock, Dante’s Inferno), Bruce BroughtonJack Smalley  and was personally mentored by James Newton Howard (The Sixth Sense, King Kong, The Village, Maleficent).

 

His score for the short movie The Pines, earned him a nomination in Southern Australian Screen Awards 2015 in Best Original Music category.
